Summer Reading Challenge 2020
June 15 – August 8, 2020
Youth: Birth through Grade 12
The Portage County Public Library is excited to reveal the 2020 Summer Reading Club Challenges. These challenges have been designed to engage youth in exploring new ideas, books, and activities. The challenges are free and there are no fees for any of the activities. Children and teens can read and complete activities to earn badges and prizes. This summer progress will be tracked in a new way, using the Beanstack website or app, Beanstack Tracker. Beginning June 15, start logging minutes of reading and participating in the activities, located exclusively in Beanstack.
1. Create an account on Beanstack. All family members can be registered under one account. Each child/teen will be placed in a challenge based on their age/grade level. This will be used to log minutes of reading and activities.
2. Start earning points by logging reading minutes and completing the activities listed in the challenges.
3. Each participant can earn two free books by reading and completing activities.
Please note: Prizes earned will be held until they can be safely picked up at a preferred branch location. (Click on the link below for more information.) Prizes must be redeemed at preferred branch location by August 29, 2020. Watch the www.pocolibrary.org website for updates.
In addition to the individual challenges, all Portage County kids & teens will be participating in a Community Reading Challenge! The goal is to log 250,000 minutes of reading during the Summer Reading Challenge dates of June 15 – August 8 through Beanstack. All minutes logged on Beanstack will automatically be counted. If a child or teen finishes a challenge before August 8, any extra minutes logged will contribute to the community goal. Good luck, Portage County readers!
