Portage County Public Library Strategic Planning 2018
The PCPL is undergoing a strategic planning process during the winter and spring of 2018. The completed plan will identity a vision, mission, and goals to guide library operations through 2021. The last PCPL strategic planning process was undertaken in 2006.
Planning will begin with a community vision session. Components of the vision that are identified as applicable to the PCPL will be carried forward to inform the PCPL strategic plan. A working group will convene throughout the winter and spring to develop components of the plan including the vision, mission, and goals. The working group is comprised of library staff, trustees and community representatives. A facilitator from UW-Extension is guiding the process to ensure it is comprehensive, inclusive, and completed in a timely manner.
On February 16th, 2018 Portage County residents are invited to attend an input session to create a vision for the future of Portage County. The input from the session will be compiled and shared with the community. Interested stakeholders will be encouraged to form partnerships that work toward the vision identified for the community. Please register for the event as space is limited.
The overall strategic planning process is following steps outlined in Strategic Planning for Results by Sandra Nelson for the Public Library Association. This book serves “to help public librarians envision, evaluate, and respond to community needs with distinctive programs and services.”
