The Portage County Public Library will host a talk on native edible plants and poisonous plants, led by Dr. Robert Freckmann, beginning at 6:00pm on Monday, August 18 at its Stevens Point Branch, 1001 Main St.

Dr. Freckmann, Professor Emeritus of Biology at UW-Stevens Point, will discuss edible plants found around Wisconsin and beyond, and plants to avoid because they are poisonous or otherwise harmful. (Please note no actual edible or poisonous plants will be on site, just pictures and a paper handout.) Dr. Freckmann is a highly regarded scholar in the field of botany and he is cofounder of the Robert W. Freckmann herbarium at UWSP.

This talk is free and open to the public, no registration required. Call 715-341-1548 for more information.
